My name is Nathan Chenoweth and I was born in Kamloops but raised in Merritt. My parents’ names are John Alexander Chenoweth and Simone Kathleen Chenoweth (nee Beglaw). My father was born in Vancouver but raised mostly in Kamloops. My mother was born in New Westminster and raised in Burnaby. I am a proud member of the Upper Nicola Indian Band and Okanagan First Nation. I am also mostly Irish, Scottish, German, Norwegian, Swedish and European Jewish descent. Growing up I went to Bench Elementary School for Kindergarten to Grade 6. For Grade 7 and 8 I went to Coquihalla Middle School and to Merritt Secondary School for Grades 9 to 12. Since I was in Middle School, I knew I wanted to be a teacher because I really love kids and my father was a teacher, as well as my grandfather. My grandmother was a First Nations support worker in Kamloops. Also some of my uncles are teachers too.

For university I had done my first two years at the University of British Columbia in Kelowna. Then I thought about joining the RCMP but I thought after a while that teaching is my true calling. I then applied to Thompson Rivers University for Online Courses in 2017 to finish my degree. Then in 2019 I applied to the Bachelor of Education where I was accepted, and I am now proud to be in this wonderful program.

My hobbies include watching hockey where my favourite team is the Montreal Canadiens. I also love to travel where I have been to Europe, Maritime Canada, Regina, Edmonton, Alberta, Northern British Columbia, Alaska, Southern California, Las Vegas, New York, Eastern Caribbean, Ontario and Quebec. I really enjoy coaching basketball to elementary school aged children and I also referee high school basketball. Another hobby is watching Netflix, documentaries and movies. Also reading is another hobby for me as I love reading books, mostly history books because history is my biggest passion.

Presently I am living in Merritt studying at Thompson Rivers University for the Bachelor of Education program.
